Marjorie Holtom passed away after a brief illness on February 6, 2017, with her three children at her side. Her husband, Bill, preceded her in death in 2013.
Marjorie was born on November 4, 1931, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Raymond and Alice DeVol Thompson. She had one brother, Raymond, who preceded her in death. Early in her life, the family moved to Belleville, Kansas, where Marjorie grew up and graduated from Belleville High School in 1949.
She met and married her first husband, Swede Swenson, in Belleville. They had three children, all who survive, Debbie Davis (Steven) of Topeka, Kansas, Michael Swenson (Charneil) of Leawood, Kansas and Scott Swenson of Washington, D.C. Marjorie later met and married Bill Holtom in November of 1975. During their life together, they lived in Topeka and Kansas City, Kansas, and later in Warsaw and Independence, Missouri.
In addition to her three children, she was blessed with four grandchildren, Aimee Lane, Topeka, Kansas, Brady Swenson and Blake Swenson of Lawrence, Kansas, and Kristen Money of Fairfax, Virginia, who blessed her with nine great-grandchildren. She enjoyed going to family gatherings and watching these younger generations grow up.
Services for Marjorie will be Friday, February 10th at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 409 N. Liberty St. in Independence. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Trinity Episcopal Church to support their community programs. Marjorie and Bill were longtime members of Trinity and loved the church and the many friends they made there.
