Jed R. Inman, age 66, lost his battle with COPD at St. Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit, MO on Feb. 16, 2017. Jed was born to Junior R. and Norma J. (Brown) Inman on Aug 1, 1950, in the Purdy-Monett area. He grew up in the Purdy area and graduated from Purdy High School. He played guitar with family and friends from a young age. Immediately after high school, he was drafted into the US Army and served in the infantry in Vietnam from 1969-1971. His love of music could not even be deterred by war, where he played his guitar when time permitted. That love of music continued for many years and included playing in several local country bands.
After the war, he had a long career at Tyson Foods in Monett where he held many positions, from supervisor to truck driver. He was forced to retire when his health no longer permitted him to drive a truck. He met Betty J. Sites in 1985. They were married in 1986 in Eureka Springs, AR. In this marriage they bore one child. Jed and Betty lived in the Purdy-Butterfield area until 2013 when they moved to Raytown, MO.
Jed was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws Ruth and Paul Sites. Jed is survived by his wife Betty of the home, child Kris Inman of Raytown, daughter Michelle Inman and family of Mount Vernon, and daughter Leslie Owens and family of Cassville. He is also survived by brothers Richard Inman and wife Shelley of Wheaton, Allen Inman and wife Debbie of Pierce City, and Sam Harris of Brookline; and sisters Jerri Taylor and husband Jim of Butterfield, Melissa Cahalan and husband Tom of Pierce City, and Lorri Harris-Wingo and husband Mike of Cassville. He is also survived by grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
Jed was a loving, soft-spoken man and will be missed by all who knew him. <p>
