Roxie Hartsock, Age: 95
Jun 18, 1921 - Mar 28, 2017

Roxie Hartsock, 95, passed away at Pleasant Valley Manor Care Center in Liberty, Mo. on March 28, 2017. Roxie spent the last 34 years in Liberty, but Missouri never held her heart like the mountains of Scott County, Virginia did. Her conversations always were sprinkled with stories of those mountains and the people she had known there. She enjoyed Liberty most when surrounded by family, especially her grandson and his family. Other than being with family, her second favorite times were those spent working in her daughter’s yard. Roxie never saw trees or flowers that she did not love, and keeping them always looking perfect was her hobby. One of her favorite topics of conversation was politics. All who knew her will remember the frustration and humor she expressed when the 2016 election did not get the results she wanted. She often imparted life lessons for every occasion based on her many experiences. Family and friends will remember her as a woman of faith, dignity, honesty, energy and a remarkable work ethic, one who refused to let life’s challenges daunt her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle Hartsock; her parents, Bolton and Minnie Robinson; sisters, Bessie Robinson, Ollie Jessee and Isabelle Broadwater; brother, George Robinson and one nephew, Lewis Mays, Jr. Roxie’s survivors include her daughter, Lois Anne Harris (Kim Bradford Harris) of Liberty, Mo.; a grandson, Kyle Harris (Hillary Estner) of Denver, Colo. and a great-grandson, Marlowe Estner-Harris (Denver).

The family wishes to acknowledge the care and love provided her by Our Lady of Mercy staff, Dr. John Amick and his staff, Tina Murdock and Jerra Jones of Crossroads Hospice and the Pleasant Valley Manor Care Center staff.

According to Roxie’s wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no public service. Her cremains will be interred next to her husband in the Russell County Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon, Va. Those wishing to memorialize her life may make a contribution to Hope House of Scott County, PO Box 1992, Gate City, VA, 24251, (276-386-1373) or to Our Lady of Mercy Country Home, 2115 Maturana Dr., Liberty, MO, 64068 (816-781-5711
