Nina Luckett Anderson

                Nina Luckett Anderson, 80, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at home on May 26, 2017. Mrs. Anderson was born on October 21, 1936. She spent her childhood years in Irvington, New York.  She attended boarding school at The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York, graduating in 1954. At The Masters School, she was active and athletic.  She is a past president of the athletic association.  She played soccer and tennis there. 

 

Mrs. Anderson then attended junior college at Bradford College in Massachusetts.  She spent her junior year abroad at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland studying psychology.  She then earned a degree at Tufts University School of Occupational Therapy in Boston. While in Boston, Mrs. Anderson met her husband, Dr. Harrison Clarke Anderson, Sr.  They married in New York City on May 6, 1961.

 

 After marrying, Dr. and Mrs. Anderson moved to Rye, New York, where they lived for seventeen years.  They had four children, Mary, Clarke Jr., Zach, and Heather.  In 1978, they moved to Mission Hills, Kansas.  They remained in the Midwest for the rest of their lives. 

 

Mrs. Anderson was a beloved wife and mother.  She worked hard to be the best in these roles and succeeded.  In her spare time, Mrs. Anderson remained active and athletic.  She loved to sail, play tennis and paddle tennis, ski, hike, and travel worldwide with her husband.  She enjoyed antiquing and needlepoint. Mrs. Anderson also spent a considerable time volunteering for charitable causes.  She was a member of the Junior League for many years and the Kansas University Medical Center Auxiliary.  She faithfully attended services at St. Andrew's Church, was a member of the Alter Guild, and sang in their choir. 

 

 Mrs. Anderson lost her husband in September of 2015 and her son, Clarke Jr., in July of 2016.  She is survived by her three children, Mary Anderson Spanos, Zachary Luckett Anderson, and Heather Anderson Quest, and five grandchildren, Natalie and Isabella Spanos and Charles, Timothy and Connor Quest.  Of great importance in her life who also survive her are her sister, Polly Murray, and her sisters-in-law, Dede Luckett and Leta Cain. 

 

 Memorial services will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church at 2:00 p.m. on June 16th.  A reception will be held in Mrs. Anderson's honor at the church following the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's.
