Sep 14, 1955 - Jul 01, 2017

Teresa Ann (Miller) Copling, 61, passed away July 1, 2017 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Teresa was a special person with a kind and loving heart, and strong faith, which found expression in every aspect of her life. She was born in Kansas City, MO, on September 14, 1955. She graduated from Paola High School and completed her training as a Registered Nurse at Pittsburg State University. Her nursing career at Overland Park Regional Medical Center spanned 38 years. Teresa worked in the cardiac telemetry unit, ICU, and especially loved working with diabetic patients during the last 18 years of her career. She obtained her M.S. in Education from Kansas State University, and was a Certified Diabetes Educator. Teresa was also a Congregational Care Minister for the Church of the Resurrection, Leawood, Kansas.

In her own words, these are some of Teresa’s most memorable times; walking through snow drifts, her sister being born on Valentine’s Day, the beautiful spring time blooms, her childhood friend Doris; going fishing with her mother, playing with the puppies, going to the UMW luncheons and quilting  shows, taking trips with the family in the camper and going different directions each year and seeing the sights, watching fireworks off our dock at our house at the Lake of the Ozarks and going to Drexel, MO as a child for the 4th of July and setting off our own fireworks at home.

Teresa’s family includes her life partner Jerry Geiger, Overland park, Ks, sister Lisa  Kincaid (Mike) of LaCygne, Ks, their son Chris Kincaid (Jordanna), Teresa’s aunts Darlyne “Dolly” McKeand and Deanna McKnead, cousin Faith Percell (Jerry).

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Louise Miller, and her husband Jim Copling. A private memorial service will be planned for a later date. The family requests contributions may be made to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
