Margaret Goodrum Iddings, nearly 94, passed away July 21, 2017 at Park Meadows Senior Living in Overland Park, KS. Margaret was born July 27, 1923, near Mayfield, KS, the second of seven children. She cherished her Mayfield memories, crediting those early years for many of her eventual priorities: family, Christian faith and music.
She graduated from Wellington High School, married Charles Eugene Iddings and ultimately, they became lifelong residents of the Wichita area. After raising her family, she worked at the Boeing Co. and especially enjoyed the years when she was part of the company's focus on the space program in Huntsville, AL, working as secretary to the Huntsville Manager. Margaret was widowed in 1980; she retired in 1987 from the Boeing Co. in Wichita.
Margaret is survived by daughters Myrna Carlock of Greensboro, NC, and Carol Keller (Chick Keller) of Prairie Village, KS. Margaret, whose life was centered on family, was extraordinarily proud of her grandchildren and their spouses: Craig and Kristin Carlock (Greensboro, NC); Jason and Heather Carlock (Lake Norman, NC); Jenny and Roger Brown (Richmond, VT) and Drew and Sarah Keller (Prairie Village, KS); and Chuck Keller (Prairie Village), deceased. Eleven great grandchildren exceeded all her expectations. Margaret is also survived by two sisters: Dot Jenkins of Memphis, TN and Thelma Nida Johnson of Wichita, KS and two brothers and their spouses: Gordon and Sharon Goodrum of Waukesha, WI and Gail and Anne Goodrum of Philadelphia, PA.
The long and happy life of Margaret will be celebrated with a Memorial Service at Village Presbyterian Church on Friday, August 11 at 11:00 am. Private burial will be alongside her husband at Mayfield Cemetery.
