Growing up in Kansas City, Jerry was raised in the Christian Union Church. As a boy, he joined the Boy Scouts, raising to the rank of Eagle Scout and was a proud member of the Tribe of Mic-o-say. As a young man at Northeast High School, Jerry joined ROTC and continued that sense of service to others by joining the National Guard where he spent time at Fort Polk, LA and was called to serve during the 1968 riots in Kansas City, Mo.

Jerry was a man of passion and conviction who held his friends and family close to his heart. He embraced every challenge in his life with determination, a strong work ethic and his wonderful, dry sense of humor. Known to various people as “Boss”, “Chief”, and “The Senator”, the title he was most proud of was “Papa Jerry”.

Jerry’s work history was varied and colorful and included Kresge’s, the Federal Reserve Bank, Kansas City Life Insurance Co., Shockley Engineering, Jackson County, City of Raymore, Reece & Nichols, and finally BJM Consulting where he spent the last twenty years as a Site Acquisition Manager. He adored his time at BJM Consulting and was proud to call those he worked with good friends. Along the way he owned and operated Anthony’s Bakery in Raymore, Diversified Mortgage in Grandview, and became a certified fitness instructor.

He was dynamic individual who held many interest and was proud to be associated with the Kansas City Songwriters’ Association, Friends of the Aquarium, the Three Trails Shootout Gang, and playing bass in the bands Shenandoah and Backroads. For the past fifteen years, restoring old cars brought him such joy and an entire new family at the South Street Garage in Blue Springs, MO. Jerry enjoyed good cigars, good scotch, Sunday family dinners, and his favorite escape, Siesta Key, Florida.

The family would like to extend thanks to KU Medical Center, KU Cancer Center – Lee’s Summit, and Kansas City Hospice for the wonderful care and support. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program, St. Jude’s, or a children’s charity of your choice is appreciated.

“My love, we’ve spent twenty years in the house you built for me in this realm, I will meet you in the house that you are building for me now.

I love you more, I love you most… - Margaret”
