Donna Jean Frazier

Donna Jean Frazier lived 84 years loving her family and friends until being reunited with her husband, Jerry Frazier on Sunday, August 6.

After graduating from Northeast High School, Donna worked at Robinson’s Shoe Store where she met Jerry, and they later married in 1953.  They moved to Prairie Village where they raised three children, Stephanie, Brad, and Bruce, and Donna mastered the art of cooking and baking, earning the nickname “Donna Jean the Pie Machine.”    She was her happiest when spending hours in the kitchen preparing meals for her family and guests.  The home was always filled with the aroma of home-cooked meals and the sound of music from albums on the stereo.  Donna possessed a witty sense of humor and a beautiful voice.  She loved singing along to her favorite records, and even in her final days she was able to recall every lyric to songs from her youth.

Donna took several semesters of bookkeeping classes and in 1978 became a bookkeeper for Constance Leiter & Co.  She enjoyed the beauty of their imported linens, crystal, and china for four years, after which she took over the books for Jerry's company, Air Contractors Inc., until retirement in 2000.

She adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and always asked to see the latest pictures, and up to the very end she was proud to say “They are the cutest kids I’ve ever seen.”

She was a very gracious and caring person as she had a smile for everyone no matter the circumstances.  Just days before her passing, she would make sure to smile at her care giver and say thank you, a trait that made her special to everyone.

Donna leaves her three children, Stephanie Spencer, Brad and Kathy Frazier, and Bruce Frazier; four grandchildren and their families, Jay Spencer, Adam and Sarah Spencer (Charlie), Brienne and Erik Edmonds (Caroline and Vivienne), Lindsey and Jordan Myers (Charlotte and Levi).

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Prairie Elder Care who provided the best care anywhere.  Most importantly, they provided true love and compassion that made her feel so comfortable and safe.   Mandy and Michala are true gems and we are so thankful to have found them and their unbelievably caring staff.  Michele Neidens with the Alzheimer’s Association, who helped guide and navigate us through the turbulent years, we couldn’t have made it without your knowledge, support, and recommendations.  Ascend Hospice Care not only provided expert care for mom but made sure the family was comfortable as well.    And thank you to those who kept mom in their prayers.  The prayers were answered as mom is finally at peace.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to; Alzheimer’s  Association, 3846 W.  75th St. Prairie Village, KS  66208 or AscendHospice Care, 5750 W. 95th St., Overland Park, KS 66207.
