Darlene LaVerne Higdon (nee Finley), 86, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Darlene is survived by her husband of 35 years, Edward C. Higdon of Excelsior Springs, MO and his children Elaine, Loxie, Gail and Mark; her daughters Donna Bowen of Kansas City, MO, Laverne (Timothy) Gardner of Orrick, MO, Iris (Joseph) Rushing of Liberty, MO; brothers Clay Purnell and William Finley of St. Louis, MO; grandsons Eric Sutton, Quintin and Clayton Jolly, Hezekiah and William Rushing and great granddaughter Aaleayah Sutton and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter Denise Burrell, her parents Charles M. Finley, Sr. and Henrietta Purnell, brother Charles M. Finley Jr. of Denver, CO and sisters Gertrude Abernathy and Carla Cook of St. Louis, MO. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Liberty Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 17416 NE 112th St, Liberty, MO 64068.
