William "Bill" Armstrong
Jun 03, 1947 - Oct 06, 2017

William "Bill" Winfield Armstrong, 70, passed away Friday, October 6th, 2017, at Kansas City Hospice in Kansas City, MO. He was born June 3, 1947 in Kansas City, MO to William and Lois Armstrong.

The most memorable qualities about Bill were his infectious smile and his love for people, and the fact that he never met a stranger. He knew how to make everyone laugh; his sense of humor was a gift. In his Bible he wrote, "A friend is a gift whose worth cannot be measured except by the heart." He was a loyal friend and a supportive and loving father. Bill was an avid reader and loved nature and gardening, but the love of his life was his wife, Della; his two daughters, Lori and Lacey; and his son, Loren.

Bill was led to faith in Christ by Dana Burris of the Faith Baptist Church in Buckner. Sometime later, he surrendered his life to preach the Gospel. His life purpose became to serve the Lord and tell others about Christ’s love for them. He completed his degree in Theology at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. He pastored multiple churches throughout his ministry. He was a great counselor and mentor. Later, he worked for Abeka Book as a home school representative for almost 20 years. His kindness and willingness to help those who wanted a Christian education made him excellent at his job. Bill's favorite quote was from Jim Elliot who said, "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Armstrong; brother, Theodore Foote; Sister, Mary Margaret Cullen.

Bill is Survived by his wife of 50 years Della, three children, Lori Mabry and husband David, Loren Armstrong, Lacey Collier and husband Harold, 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, niece Ingrid Foote, and nephew Ted Foote, and many other beloved friends and family members.

A service to Celebrate the Life of Bill will be held at Anchor Point Baptist Church in Independence, Missouri on Sunday, October 8th at 2 pm.

When anyone has been asked to describe Bill Armstrong, he or she almost always mentions that unique and wonderful smile. That smile will certainly be missed, but we can only imagine how that smile is now that he is looking into the face of his Savior.
