Michael David Neely

Michael David Neely died at the age of 68 on October 31, 2017. Michael was born the second of four brothers on July 31, 1949, in Klamath Falls, OR. To Carl Neely and Norma Ustick Neely.

On April 21, 1982 he married Alice Gilman in Hawaii. They lived their married life in Blue Springs, MO. Michael worked as a telecommunications engineer for Southwestern Bell, Sprint, Black & Veatch, and Killion Communications.

He was a loving husband to Alice, father to Lucas and devoted Grandpa (Grumpy) to Jenna and Jillian Gilman. He enjoyed his family time including Friday nights when the granddaughters stayed over, Sunday night family dinners, road trips to pumpkin patches to find the biggest ones the girls wanted, vacations in Branson, road trip to dance nationals in Chicago, and a trip to Disney World. If you ever attended any of the granddaughters school events, ball games, dance recitals or competitions he was there cheering them on.

In his spare time, you could find Michael on the golf course enjoying a round of golf with his friends. He was also an avid reader. His house has a large library of books that he was always adding to. Anytime you stopped by the house, he would have a book nearby that he was somewhere in the process of reading.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Mark. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Alice, son Lucas, daughter in law Nichole and granddaughters Jenna and Jillian. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday November 8th followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. The services will be held at Blue Springs Christian Church 7920 MO-7, Blue Springs, MO. 64014. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the City Union Mission.
