Mrs. Marlene M. DeRousse (nee Kennedy), of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the age of 79. Marlene was born to parents William and Leona Kennedy on November 2, 1938 in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois. She grew up as one of nine children and attended Red Bud High School. In May 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Everett DeRousse. The couple had three children and six grandchildren. Marlene was extremely proud of all her children and grandchildren. Marlene owned Lakewood Gift Shop before retirement. Marlene was a parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. She volunteered cleaning the Redemptorist Church rectory and church with her very special church friends and the priests. She was an avid gardener and a member of Lakewood Garden Club. Marlene was young at heart and loved life. Many described Marlene as the Energizer Bunny. Her passing was all too soon and a shock to all those who knew her. Marlene is survived by her husband, Everett DeRousse; her children; daughter, Pam Asjes; son Steve and his wife, Tammy; son Jeff and his wife, Lisa; six grandchildren; Blake Asjes and wife Kayla, Chase DeRousse, Trey DeRousse, Cole DeRousse, Devin DeRousse and Caterina DeRousse; and her siblings; her twin brother, Marvin Kennedy, sister, Darlene Frisch, and brother, Paul Kennedy. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Bill, Richard (“Butch”), Bob, Harold, and sister, Auvergne. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 10:00 am on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kansas City with a visitation before mass at 9:30. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Redemptorist Church, or Lakewood Garden Club Scholarship Fund, 4512 NW Bramble Trail, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64064. A memorial service will be held at St. Patrick’s in Ruma, Illinois at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 25th
