Lowell (Timer) L. Poague, 93, resident of Lincoln, Nebraska, for over 50 years, passed away peacefully at North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City, MO, on November 15, 2017 of natural causes. Services & internment will be at Lincoln Memorial Gardens in Lincoln, NE, in a private service for immediate family at a later date. Lowell was born June 5, 1924, in Norton, KS, the son of Monte and Inez McKim Poague. He grew up in Wakeeney, KS. Siblings: Leighton Poague (deceased), Reva Lynd (Wakeeney, KS), Janice Reeder(Wakeeney, KS). Lowell married Betty O’Neal on June 6, 1948, in Colby, KS. She survives in Platte City, MO. Lowell & Betty lived in Hobbs, NM, for a short while after marriage, eventually settling in Lincoln. He was a graduate of Kansas State University, a Member of the KSU varsity golf team, and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Lowell was a long-time member of the Elks Club of Lincoln, BPOE #80. Lowell retired from Pratt & Lambert Paint company as a regional sales executive in 1990 after 30 years. His job consisted largely of driving, golf, visiting, more golf, and refreshments. He worked with KLIN radio as a sports analyst for Nebraska Football game broadcasts during the 1960s through the early 1980s. He was a lifelong avid golfer and member of the Hillcrest and Knolls country clubs in Lincoln for many years. He had a curiously close relationship with many family pets including his favorite dog, Freddie. Hobbies included golf, Husker football, card games with friends, and growing tomatoes. Lowell was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He lied about his age enlisting at 17 years old and serving as a flight navigator and waist gunner in the 446th bomb group in a B-24 Liberator stationed in Bungay, England, in mid-1944. In late spring of 1944, the train he was riding in was struck by German bombs in London and he suffered severe injuries and was returned home on the Queen Mary in a full body cast. Lowell is survived by his spouse, Betty Poague of Platte City, MO.; children: Connie Brown, Lincoln, NE; Scott Poague of Platte City, MO (spouse Fran); Kevin Poague of Lincoln, NE (spouse David); grandchildren: Aaron Brown of Kansas City, MO (spouse Sarah); Stephanie Morgan of Ankeny, IA; Keri Frommelt of Ankeny, IA (spouse Sean); Heather Brodsky of Grand Island, NE (spouse Troy); Michelle Veatch of Olathe, KS (spouse Micah); Nicola Poague of Austin, TX; Jessica Poague of Overland Park, KS; great-grandchildren: Heather and Shannon Frommelt, Reese and Calvin Morgan, Nick Brodsky, Addison Veatch, and Romi Brown.

Old Housekeeper from the Legacy Estates ,Lincoln ,Nebraska

Lowell and Betty were such great residents while they lived here in Lincoln. When I worked their myself and Sherry ( other colleague ) always cleaned their apt together and enjoyed their company and humor. I left there about 2 years ago moved on and work at a hospital. I loved the residents there it made me a better person I loved all of them. Lowell you are a great man I’m so glad I got to meet you and Betty. Hugs to you forever. May you Rest In Peace. Xoxo
