Willadean McCoy Walters, age 85, formerly of Chanute, KS, passed away January 3, 2018 at Kansas City Hospice House after a short illness surrounded by those who loved her. A private service and burial has been arranged.
Willadean "Dee" was born June 18, 1932 in Welty, Oklahoma to Sylvia Gladys Bryan McCoy and William E. McCoy. She spent some of her younger years on a farm and then moved to Tulsa with the family. They later moved to Chanute in the early 1940's where her father worked on the Santa Fe Railroad. She married young and moved to Tulsa and then to Colcord, OK where she spent many years making lifelong friends. Later in life she returned to Chanute where she worked at National Garment until its' closure, then became a private home caregiver. She always provided a beautiful flower garden that many passerby’s enjoyed in her yard. She had such a loving and giving soul and will be missed by those who truly loved her.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Sylvia Gladys McCoy and William E. McCoy, brothers Lee E. of El Cajon, CA, William J. of Claremore, OK, Jimmy L., and Louie D. McCoy and sisters Jackie P. Klauman and M. Darlene Norris of Chanute. Her son, Jimmy Lee Scott also proceeded her in death.
She is survived by daughters, Patricia Scott of Overland Park, KS and Lesa Sedlock, Raymore, MO; grand-daughters Ashlyn Walters of Belton, MO, Jadyn Page of Lee's Summit, MO, and Vicki Rembijas of St. Petersburg, FL; two great-grandchildren, Layton and Journey, and special niece Linda McCoy Barnes of Chanute. Surviving siblings are Shirley McCoy Vega of Chandler, AZ and Bill McCoy of Eugene, OR, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
