Jim Mackey, 80, formerly of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully at Lakeview Village, January 7, 2018. Plans for services are pending. The only child of Roy Mackey and Muriel Timms Mackey, Jim was born November 26, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Kansas in January of 1961, with a degree in mechanical engineering, then earned his master’s degree from Washington University at St. Louis. He was employed by Hallmark Cards for 25 years before retiring. Family and friends were important to Jim, he will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and his love for root beer floats. Jim’s favorite hobby was taking interest in whatever dog the family owned at the time.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Michelle Stout. He is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Jean Mackey and daughter Susan Diane Mackey.
