Gary Allan Ashley
Mar 19, 1955 - Jan 27, 2018

Gary Allan Ashley, 62, of Stilwell, KS entered heaven peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 surrounded by love & hugs.  Born in Newfoundland, CAN to Retired MSgt Ralph Jr. and Patricia (Pat) Ashley.  Gary grew up in Oklahoma where he was the toast of Midwest City for his football talents.  He spent three of his adolescent years in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Gary graduated from The University of Oklahoma as a Pharmacist. He took his first job in Springfield, MO where he met his wife of 36 years, and together have three wonderful children.  He spent majority of his career in the Kansas City area where he never missed a day of work at Marion Labs or OptumRx.

Gary, often referred to as “Big G” for goodness (as he would say), will be remembered for his booming laugh, passion for running, “G Hop” French Toast Breakfasts, and rare dance moves. His slogans in life were to plant a tree, have plan, and give big hugs.

Gary is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Terri (Montgomery) Ashley, daughter, Amber Ferguson (JB), Sons, Aaron (Carrie), and Hunter, parents Ralph and Patricia, brothers, Mike (Donna), and Ralph (Michelle).  Three Sister-in-laws, Sherri Grove, Dana Fuchs (Bobby), Michele Holland (Jim), and 10 nephews and 6 nieces.

Memorial Service: Friday, Feb 2, 2018, 2:00pm at Church of the Resurrection Leawood Campus - Wesley Chapel. Reception following.

In leu of flowers Gary requested donations be made to Church of the Resurrection, any organization of your choice, or plant a tree in his memory.

My condolences to the family. I'm always conflicted at time. I am sad that another has passed and is taken away from their family and friends. However I rejoice because they no longer have any earthly ills, no more earthly aches or pain, his work here on earth is done and the Creator has called him home. One of my best memories of the Ashley's is playing backyard baseball with balls we made out of socks and tape. Most of the time our bat was a broom handle. Thank you for being my neighbor and friend. R. I. P. My childhood friend. PS: To the Ashley family, I love you all.

Let not your hearts be troubled, Gary believes in God, so he also believes in Jesus. He has been rewarded for his faith. Let us continue in our faith and we shall be rewarded with a great family reunion some day. May God shower the family with comfort through His presence in our lives.
