Donald Ray Fye
Sep 11,1946---Jan 29,2018

Don did not leave us; he just went to heaven to make sure the Wi-Fi is working.

Donald Ray Fye was born in Indiana, on September 11, 1946, to Jane and Paul Fye.  Don passed on January 29, 2018, surrounded by his family after a long fight with bladder and liver cancer.

Don earned his BS from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in California and continued his career as a software engineer in the defense industry until he retired in 2011.  Don resided in Illinois, California, Ohio, Virginia and finally Kansas for the last 20 years.

Don enjoyed playing golf, visiting the casinos, traveling, watching the Chicago Bears and Cubs, tinkering with many SAVED computer parts in the basement, spoiling his granddaughters and talking with family and friends.

Don is survived by his wife Donna of 33 years, daughter Carmen (Gil) of California, Doug (Natalie) of Overland Park and his greatest joys, his granddaughters Tana, Liliana and Lorelei.  He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers John and Marty.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church in Overland Park, KS on Sunday February 4, 2018 at 2pm with reception to follow at the church.

Please no flowers; they only die. Celebrate Don’s life by giving to Thom’s Helpers c/o St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church in Overland Park, KS (Don was a volunteer with them) or, to Great Plains SPCA because Don loved his cats (especially Krikki).

Donna, Doug and family, I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. Just reading the obit brought back so many memories. Although we seldom saw one another, I always enjoyed getting to know Don and his family better. Mark and I were just talking a while back about the time we came to your house and both my parents and Don's mother (my Aunt Jane) were there. It was such an enjoyable visit. May the Lord grant you comfort and peace as you grieve his loss.

I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. He was such a kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. Our family is lessened by his loss. I know he was greeted by his brothers, parents, and his Uncle Harold. Rest in peace, Don.
