David W. Barnes

David passed away January 25, 2018 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center from complications of cancer, with family at his side. Born in Joplin, MO, he lived in Kansas City most of his life. He was a graduate of the Art Institute of Kansas City and served in the Navy for four years. David was retired, and had owned several pipe and tobacco stores. He leaves two sisters and a nephew of Kansas City and three cousins. Internment at Terrace Park Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.

We knew David many years ago. Irene went to Center High School and was in several art classes with him. I met him later and he helped me learn more about photography. We used to visit him often at his cigar stores. He was a very creative person who will always be remembered fondly by both of us. We also knew his cousin Donna Hicks, and enjoyed her friendship.

I am sorry to learn of David's passing.We were in school together at KCAI- -64-68.WE were part of a small group of friends that were together the whole time at the Art Inst.After graduation ,David and I drove to Calif.It was a wonderful and fun filled trip.Iwill never forget his humor and wit! Thanks for the memories,David.
