Lonnie LaRue Griffin, Age: 75

Lonnie LaRue Griffin, 75, passed away March 9, 2018 at his home in Independence, Missouri.

 

Lonnie was an active member and priest in the Church of Jesus Christ Restored, Waldo Ave. Restoration Branch.  He enjoyed serving the Lord and meeting with the Saints; helping in whatever way he could.  He also served as assistant pastor at the Groves Care Center.

 

Lonnie volunteered at Lunch Partners, serving those in need, for several years. 

 

Lonnie was a member of the armed forces having served in Korea during the Vietnam era from 1966-1968. 

 

Lonnie is survived by his wife of 19 years, Deana Lasley Griffin of the home, and his sons, Chad (Olga) of Lenexa, KS, Boyd of Independence, MO, and Amanda Wadkins of Pelican, LA.  Pelican, LA.  Lonnie is also survived by stepchildren Tia Stoddard, Hillsboro, OR, Lucho Wheeler (Tanya), Lebanon, OR, Tonya LaFaber, Martinsburg, WV and Jeff Witt, Jackson, WY. 

 

Lonnie was also blessed with  three grandchildren Valerie Kelikaya of Lenexa, KS, and Thomas Mahaffey, and Ryleigh Garrett of Pelican, LA. 

 

He is also survived by step grandchildren Samantha Stoddard of Gervais, OR,  Krysta Beaudoin of Eugene, OR, Cassandra, Trevor and Jacob Wheeler of Lebanon, OR , Karla Stump of Independence, MO, Christian Witt, Gabriel, Eric and Anthony LaFaber of Martinsburg, WV.  He also has 4 great grandchildren Jackson, Lincoln and Grant of Eugene, OR and Scarlett of Lebanon, OR

 

He was proceeded by his father and mother Boy L and Magdalene Croft Griffin and infant granddaughters Kayla Wheeler and Georgia Pettis.

 

He will be missed but not forgotten

Deanna, I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't know if you remember me. It's been 40 plus years. I am Shirley MacDonald Brown's sister and Judi (VanBiber)Wollenziehn's sister from Slover Park days in the 70's.

Sorry for the loss of Lonnie. I will never forget his laugh and the warmth of him being around. He loved fellowship I have observed. Just being with saints.
