Thomas Edward Schmutz passed away, surrounded by his family, on April 13, 2018, at the age of 71, from lung cancer and pulmonary fibrosis. Tom graduated from Paseo High School in 1964 and Northwest Missouri State University in 1970. He married his wife, Patsy, in the summer of 1968 and they were active members of North Cross United Methodist Church for 42 years. Tom worked for the Social Security Administration in Kansas City from 1978 to 2009. He was an avid photographer and member of the Northland Camera Club; sang in the church choir; and played numerous sports including golf, pickleball, softball and volleyball. He was a brave in the tribe of Mic-O-Say and participated in Midland United Methodist Cursillo. Tom was a devoted father and grandfather who lived a perfect example of Christian love. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Edith Schmutz. Survivors include his wife, Patsy; his daughters, Diane Weintraub (Ian), and Laura Meador (Ryan); grandchildren Jarad, Kaylie and Aiden Weintraub, and Mattie and Riley Meador; his brother, Jim Schmutz, and wife Pam; their children, Cathy, Christian, Jonathan, Carolyn and Jeremy; and numerous other cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at North Cross United Methodist Church, 1321 NE Vivion Road at 5p.m., April 21, with visitation from 6:00 to 7:30.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Cross UMC or Wilderness Camping and Retreat Center, 34030 W. 204th St. Lawson, MO 64062.
