Linda Steiner

Linda Carol (Pitts) Steiner, 76, was born in West Plains, Missouri on Friday, December 19, 1941 to the late Carrold and Inez (Inman) Pitts. She passed away peacefully with family on Thursday, May 31, 2018. The family moved several times before settling in Sugar Creek, MO where Linda grew up. Linda graduated from William Chrisman HS (Indep.) in 1959. Linda attended Kansas City Business School as well.


Linda was a proud mother of three children with her first husband, Richard (Harter). Linda married Larry (Steiner) in 1973, welcoming a blended family of three more children. Linda worked at Columbia Union National Bank (downtown KCMO) as Assistant VP in the Loan Department, then worked at Home State Bank, and finally with Vance Publishing.  


Linda was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors are her loving husband Larry, of the home, six children and their spouses, 19 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren (with three more on the way); Rick (son) and Dianne Harter; Suzanne (daughter) and John Novotny; and Carol (daughter) and Terry Magelssen; Steve (son) and Donna Steiner; Duane (son) and Vivian Steiner; Diane (daughter) and Brian Wink; Linda’s only brother Mike and (wife) Shirley Pitts, and many cousins.


Linda and Larry transferred from Lord of Life Lutheran Church to Christ Lutheran Church in Overland Park when they moved from Leawood, KS to Olathe, KS. Linda was an active member of Stephen Ministries. Linda enjoyed traveling, and managed to visit 48 of the 50 United States with Larry and especially looked forward to their yearly visit to Gulf Shores, Ala. each winter with friends.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas at Celebration of Life will be held at the Christ Lutheran Church, 11720 Nieman Road, Overland Park, KS 66210 at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 23, 2018.
