Phillip Sheridan Brimble

Phillip S. Brimble passed away on June 3, 2018, at the age of 78.

 

A resident of Overland Park KS, Phillip spent his early childhood in Chandler, OK.  His family moved to Kansas City, MO in 1952 where he attended Paseo High School. He was graduated from The University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1962 with a degree in biology.

 

In 1961 he was employed by the Kansas City Star as a staff writer and became the Science-Medical Editor. In this position he witnessed and wrote about many medical and science firsts.

 

In 1966-67, he spent an academic year as one of seven fellows in the Sloan-Rockefeller advanced science writing program at Columbia University.

 

Phillip retired from The Star in 1980 and became a commercial real estate broker. His area of expertise was investment properties and he worked at several prominent Kansas City brokerage firms, most recently Cushman & Wakefield.

 

Phillip enjoyed traveling-especially in the Pacific Northwest, photography and spending time with his family.

 

He is survived by his sons Christopher (Jennifer), Overland Park KS, Matthew, Shawnee KS, a sister Darlene (Richard) of Arizona, his partner Nancy of the home, and six grandchildren.

 

Phillip was a true gentleman who was loyal to his friends and devoted to his family.
