Julie Beth Anderson, age 37, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed on June 18, 2018, at her home.


Julie was born in Topeka, KS, on April 27, 1981. Over the years she served a number of families as a nanny in Eugene and Portland, OR. After returning to the Kansas City area, she worked at Grain to Glass in North Kansas City, MO.


A lifelong lover of music, Julie traveled extensively throughout the United States to enjoy the music of Phish, Split Lip Rayfield, and many music festivals and events, including in her home state of Kansas. Her travels and time living in different cities brought her friends who she loved and appreciated. Julie enjoyed bicycling, hiking and being outdoors, especially in the forest. Kansas Jayhawks basketball meant a lot to Julie. Jayhawk Nation was enthusiastically represented wherever she was. Julie was passionate about preserving the environment and promoting sustainability.


Her unborn son, Leaf, predeceased Julie in 2016. She was also predeceased by her grandparents, Bob and Margaret Anderson of Overland Park, KS, and Bob and Beth Galloway of WaKeeney, KS. Survivors include her mother, Janie Anderson of Columbia, MO, her father and step mother, Craig and Christine Anderson of Lenexa, KS, her brothers and sisters, James Anderson (Cherryl) of Cave Creek, AZ, Amy Grill of Los Angeles, CA, Ben Anderson (Julie) of Columbia, MO, Ashley Grill of Overland Park, KS, Aaron Grill (Stef Syfert) of Maplewood, NJ and Molly Caton (Jason) of Kansas City, MO, her nieces and nephews, Clark, Lily Jane and Ayla Anderson of Cave Creek, AZ, Grace, Russell and Maggie Mae Anderson of Columbia, MO, Katherine Koplik of Overland Park, KS, Calvin and Arlo Grill of Maplewood, NJ and Oscar Caton of Kansas City, MO, step grandparents, Richard and Carol Ronning of Overland Park, KS, and her many aunts, uncles and cousins.


The Cremation Society of Kansas and Missouri handled arrangements.


The family is planning an August memorial gathering for Julie’s family and friends.

My name is Darius from kampala uganda. I got to know Julie last year when i posted a picture of orphaned kids that we are taking care of here in uganda. And julie picked interest in helping the kids and coming to Volunteer in our orphanage. She helped us in raising funds for sanitary pads for our girls. We have been involved in video charting together with her and the kids here in the orphanage. And she had all the arragements of coming soon to help and volunteer.
