Mrs. Wilma Mae “Bill” (McGee) Ketter

Mrs. Wilma Mae “Bill” (McGee) Ketter passed away peacefully in Kansas City MO on July 5 2018 at the age of 101.

 

Wilma is survived by her children Lora (Jeff) Becker, Mark (Shelly) Ketter and Randy (Debbie) Ketter; her sister Janice (Charles) Waters, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband Francis Robert Ketter in 1986, sons Marvin, Stephen (Leann Turner) and Michael Ketter, her parents John Edward and Eva Mae (Harris) McGee, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.   

 

Wilma was born on February 28 1917 in Isabella, Polk County, TN.   In her early twenties, she moved from the Smoky Mountains to Los Angeles where she met Francis Ketter at a dance.  They thoroughly enjoyed California and winning a few dance contests before moving to Kansas.  They married September 27, 1945 in Topeka, KS where they lived the rest of their lives.

 

Wilma was an accomplished seamstress and made professional draperies for many years.   Her passion was quilts.  She started sewing at the age of 10 and continued all her life, still making quilts at 101. She was a founding member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Church and very active in the church quilt guild.  She made the church baptismal gowns and volunteered at the VA hospital church for over 35 years.  She loved spending time with her friends and family.

 

Visitation is scheduled for 9am on Friday, July 13, at Most Pure Heart of Mary in Topeka KS, followed by Rosary at 9:30 and Mass at 10:00am.  Burial will follow the Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery followed by a lunch.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her honor to Villa St Francis Care Center, 16600 W 126th St, Olathe, KS 66062

Aunt Wilma was such an amazing woman. I'll always have fond memories of her kindness and witty humor! Please know that we are keeping all of your family in our prayers. May God comfort you with His love and peace during this time of loss.
