Obituaries detail

Dennis Michael Frederick
Nov 15, 1947 - Jul 07, 2018

On Saturday, July 7, 2018, Dennis Michael Frederick passed away at Hospice House of Kansas City after a hard-fought battle.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Catherine.  He will be forever missed by his wife of 29 years, Susan, his son, Kenneth (Mendy), the grandchildren he adored, Sophia and Logan, his sister, Mary (Buz), his brothers, Keith (Marilyn) and Hal (Sandy), nieces, nephews, In-laws, and friends.

He worked in Lee’s Summit for Western Electric before relocating to North Carolina in 1985 where he finished out his career with AT&T then Lucent Technologies for a total of 31 years.  During his tenure at AT&T, he earned a Master’s degree.  Because of his love of teaching, he began another career of 13 years with Alamance Community College.

He loved life and lived it to the fullest.  He was a private pilot, a classical guitarist, and an avid fisherman.  Introducing kids to the joy of reeling in a fish never got old for him.  He loved the water and spent time with family and friends at the beach and on the lake.  Camping became the activity he most enjoyed in the last few years.

A Celebration of  Life will be held at  3:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, at Journey Church International, 1601 SW State Route 150, Lee's Summit, Missouri, 64082.

I feel privileged that Dennis's and my paths crossed when we both taught in the IT Department at Alamance Community College. Dennis was a mentor and friend. He truly cared about people. I feel really blessed that Dennis called me on July 2 to talk about his battle and to say farewell. I was struck by his calm and courage. This is a man who lived a good life and leaves such proud memories. My prayers of comfort are with your family.
