Elijah “Wayne” Reeves
Jan 30, 1940 - Jul 15, 2018

Elijah “Wayne” Reeves, a long-time resident of Prairie Village, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 15th in Overland Park, KS.

Wayne was born on January 30th, 1940 in Emporia, KS to Udell and Edith (Colglazier) Reeves. He graduated from Hartford High School, attended the University of Kansas, and later transferred to Emporia State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and received a degree in business.

After college, Wayne served in the Kansas Army National Guard where he developed a life-long and deep appreciation for those who serve in the military. He married the love of his life, Carole Stoike, on November 19th, 1966 at Faith Lutheran Church in Prairie Village, KS. Carole preceded him in death in 1997.

Wayne’s career included many years with Hallmark Cards, later retiring from Advantage Sales & Marketing.  Wayne very much enjoyed the years he and Carole spent raising their three children and loved watching them grown up. He continued his family enjoyment by spending time with his six grandchildren. Wayne enjoyed country music and watching sports, where he faithfully followed KU athletics.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Carole. Survivors include his three children: Andrea (Mike) Duckworth of Prairie Village, Brett (Kristen) Reeves of Fairway, and Chad (Kim) Reeves of Westwood Hills; one sister, Deborah (Brian) Umbarger of Shawnee; a brother-in-law, Al Stoike of Prairie Village; grandchildren - Lainie Duckworth, Keaton Duckworth, Chase Reeves, Kate Reeves, Poppy Reeves and Bodie Reeves; and two nieces - Elise Umbarger and Emma Umbarger.

We will greatly miss our sweet Dad, Papa, Brother and Uncle.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia

and Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org), honoring Wayne’s late wife, Carole, and her fight against the disease.
