David Ten Broeck Norton

David Ten Broeck Norton died September 5, 2018.  He was 84.  A memorial service will be held September 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in The Chapel at Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Kansas.

          David was born in New York City and spent his early years in Yonkers, New York.  Growing up, he was active in music and drama and was an avid swimmer and tennis player.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, and later an MBA from Butler University in Indianapolis.  He spent forty years in the industrial insulation business, retiring in 1995 as Vice President and District Manager with AC & S, Inc.

          He was an active and long time member of downtown Kansas City Rotary Club 13 where he held a board position and various committee chairs.  David volunteered for years as a tutor with Literacy Kansas City, helping adult individuals learn to read. He served on the board of directors for six years and as board president, receiving the Betty Chapman award as Volunteer of the Year in 1999.  David was a member of Village Presbyterian Church where he served as Shepherd Deacon and on various committees. 

          David was predeceased by Susan Smallwood, his sister.  He is survived by Elizabeth Norton, his wife of 36 years, nieces Dale and Lee Smallwood, and Elizabeth’s son John Poston. 

          In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Literacy Kansas City, the Rotary Youth Camp Association c/o Rotary Club 13, the Village Presbyterian Church Endowment Trust, or Kansas City Hospice House.
