James Lee "Jim" Landes
Sep 12, 1947 - Sep 07, 2018

James “Jim” Lee Landes, 70, died on Friday, 07 September 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving immediate family. Jim was a dreamer who always cheered for the underdog, believed that being a humanitarian was more important than being a millionaire, and stood up for what he believed was right. His gregarious personality and love of a good joke meant that no one was ever a stranger to him for long.

He was a member of the United States Air Force, having served his country in the Vietnam War.

It is impossible to capture with words the larger-than-life personality that Jim had. He is best so defined by his undying love for and unwavering devotion to his wife of almost 48 years, Joyce, without whom he readily admitted he never could have lived, and his deep love for and unabashed pride in his children, James and Jill. Family meant more to him than anything else.

His presence is inimitable and irreplaceable. He will be missed by all those who truly loved and knew him.

I'm heartbroken to hear this. Jim was a remarkable man, and one of the warmest, most genuine, open-hearted people i've ever met. From the moment I would walk in the door of the Landes house, Jim's humor, warmth, and generous heart immediately made me feel not only at home, but like family. He was a master storyteller - spellbinding and hilarious. He was wise about the world and optimistic about humanity. He was genuinely one of a kind. I will miss him. Thinking of Joyce, Jim, Jill, and the rest of the family. All my love - Josh
