Jeffery Leonard Mosby, of Independence Missouri passed away September 23, 2018 at the age of 58. He was born on November 20, 1959 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents Carol Lancaster and Thomas Mosby. Jeff had two children from his first marriage: Amanda and Beau Mosby, after which he took on the role as a single father, raising them by himself. Jeff was in the Carpenters Union and was a Journeyman Millwright, a high-precision craftsman/tradesman who installed, dismantled, repaired, reassembled, and moved machinery in factories, power plants, and construction sites. He mastered this job and was very good at what he did. February 14, 1996 Jeff met Cheryl Matney, who had three children: Jeremiah, Amy and Joshua. Jeff and Cheryl were both tricked into this meeting by their close friends Rhonda and Ronnie. Neither one had any idea this meeting would end in love at first sight. Thereafter upon meeting Rhonda, Jeff would say, “Thank-ya, Rhonda.” Seventeen years later, June 29, 2013, Jeff and Cheryl were married, surrounded by their family and friends. Jeff's relationship with all 5 of the kids was very special to him. He was a remarkable father to each of them and loved them very much.
He enjoyed riding and working on motorcycles. He also loved using his hands to create or build things including drawing, bead working, woodworking, and playing his guitar. He loved fast cars and motorcycles, all types of motor vehicles. His favorite food was ice cream (any kind of ice cream). Mostly he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a straight-shooting, honest, very intelligent, witty, fun-loving man, without a filter. He gave the best big hugs, and was a master of all types of, what he called, trivial information… useful and useless. For those closest to him, he was a very loving and remarkable man, a faithful friend and loyal companion.
Jeff is survived by his wife Cheryl Mosby; 5 children, Amanda Willis (Mosby), Beau Mosby, Jeremiah Harvey Matney, Amy Harvey and Joshua Matney; 16 grandchildren, Arieonna, Domoniah, Alex, Samuel, Nicholas, Thomas, Kerstin, Corey, Amaya, Kiara, Aiyana, Joshua, Takoda, Jaxon, Tegan and Jeremiah; 4 brothers Randy, Casey, Paul and Thomas Mosby; 2 sisters Lisa Finley and Patty Mosby. He was also survived by his closest friends whom he called his brothers, Jeff Cotterman, Joshua Hutton and Clay Baker.
In Jeff's own words about himself: "Doing my best to cause no harm. Wish me luck. Aghhhh, to understand it, you should have been there!!! Now-a-days I'm into the grand-kids, gettin' by and still tryin' to make some sense of it all. What a hell of a ride. Peace!!"
In Jeff's own words his favorite quotes were: "It's all on a wheel. Don't ask if you can't give. People are crazy."
