Richard Duane LaGree

Richard Duane LaGree, 88, passed away October 21, 2018 after a brief illness.  He was born October 9, 1930 in Newton, KS to Fabian and Lillian LaGree.  His 40-year career with Western Resources and Kansas Power and Light included residing in Leavenworth, Manhattan and Wichita.  The majority of his career was in Manhattan where he was Western Region Vice President.  Upon his retirement in 1995, he enjoyed time with family, traveling and volunteering in various civic and church activities.  He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  While residing in Manhattan, KS, he was active in the First Presbyterian Church, the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, Urban Renewal efforts and the Manhattan Rotary Club.  While attending the University of Kansas, he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity and was a commander of the Air Force ROTC unit.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beverly, his daughter Jane (Kent) Allingham of Lake Mary, FL, his son Bryan (Cindy) LaGree of Leawood, KS, and grandsons Christopher Allingham of Tulsa, OK, Andrew Allingham of Lexington, KY, and Daniel LaGree of Houston, TX.  He is preceded in death by his brother Darrell LaGree, his sister Donnis Claassen and his granddaughter Emily LaGree.  A memorial service will be held Friday, October 26 at 3:00 in the Wesley Chapel at United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave., Building C, Leawood, KS.  Memorial gifts may be sent to Healing House of Kansas City, Attn: LaGree memorial, 4505 St. John Ave., Kansas City, MO  64123.
