Richard Vansandt, 79, of Independence, Mo., passed away Thursday, November 22, 2018. Richard was born July 25, 1939, in Butler, Mo., to Lorenzo Dow and Edith Mae (Weaver) Vansandt.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ivy Vansandt in 1985 (mother of daughters Jane Vansandt Sommers and Marcy Vansandt); his wife, Linda Vansandt in 2018; bothers, Dean Vansandt, Hale Vansandt, C.L. Vansandt; sisters, Lou Relda Carter, Vivian Dorsett, and step-grandson, Andrew Caraway.

He is survived by his daughter, Jane (Vansandt) Sommers and her husband, Michael; daughter, Marcy Vansandt; step-daughter Wendy Price and her husband, Brad; step-son, Jeremy Grimm and his wife Shera; 20 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Shorty Vansandt; sisters, Beverly Page and Edith Mae Henley.

Burial at Mound Grove Cemetery. There will be no service.
