Alice Louise Garver

Alice Louise Garver passed away with her family at her side on June 19th 2019 at the age of 87.  Alice was born in Three Rivers, Michigan on Feb 27, 1932 to Ada Kaiser and Henry VanderWeel.

 

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Mayor George Garver and her son George Garver Jr.  Alice is survived by her daughter Janice Allen and her husband Doug, her son Steve Garver and wife Lisa, grand children Susan and Allison Allen, Georgia Garver, Jenny Ahlbrandt and husband Tom, Stephanie Dockter and husband Andrew, great grand children Jaxson Allen, Xander Moses and Larkin Ahlbrandt.

 

Alice graduated high school in Three Rivers and received her nursing degree in Chicago from Swedish Covenant where she met her husband George.

 

George and Alice were married 63 years and enjoyed 35 years living in Michigan, 13 years in Sun City West, Arizona and 15 years in Sun City Georgetown, Texas where Alice was the first lady and George the Mayor from 2008-2014.  She and George moved to Kansas City to be near their family in 2015.  Alice and George were a great team during their 63 year marriage. She was a wonderful wife, supporting George in all his endeavors as well as a loving mother and grandmother. 

Alice was an avid reader, loved playing and watching tennis and spending time outdoors. She was a huge University of Texas and Kansas City Chiefs fan.  She was a kind and loving person who always had a smile on her face and had sweet things to say to everyone she met. She was a great listener and did not judge or offer her opinion but rather listened providing strength and support. Alice lived a great life and was an inspiration to many and a joy to all who knew her.
