Linda J. Cannon, Age: 72

Linda Jeanne (Coles) Cannon was born February 21, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri to Marjorie Jeanne Johnson and John Kenneth "Tad" Coles, Jr. who predeceased her.  She grew up in Mission, KS on Clark Drive and Dearborn Drive.  She was surrounded by a loving family including her older brother Robbie and her baby brother Tad.  Linda graduated from Shawnee Mission North in 1965.  She worked at Johnson County Community College as an administrative assistant for counseling and continuing education for over thirty years.  During this time she was awarded her associate's degree which was a goal that made her proud.

Her sense of humor, quick wit, organization skills and fashion sense made her memorable at the college.  She was strong willed and persistent in her personal and work life.  She was a lover of boxed rosé, rum balls from Andrés, shoes, birds and cats, a champion for the underdog and a skilled shopper.  She, her laugh and her gentle touch will be missed deeply by family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, James H. Cannon of Overland Park, and two children; Geoffrey Bretton "Brett" Ransom (spouse Els Van der Meij) of Kansas City, MO and Brooke Cannon Poindexter (spouse Rich Poindexter) of Overland Park.  She has five grandchildren: Avery Cannon Poindexter, Tate Coles Poindexter, Quinn Nicolas Ransom, Ryne Robert Poindexter and Keiren Bretton Ransom.

Her surviving brothers are Robert Coles of Arizona and Tad B. Coles (spouse Cindy Cooley Coles) of Overland Park, KS and her nieces Sheri Coles, Lee Ann Coles Beery, Cassidy Coles and nephew Jacob Coles.

A private celebration will be held Saturday, August 31.  Please contact poindexterbrooke@hotmail.com for more information.

I'm so sorry to hear of Linda's passing. I worked with her in Dane Lonborgs office. She always kept us laughing, especially when she could get him to laugh. I enjoyed our shopping lunches at the mall and her tender heart. A beautiful obituary for a beautiful woman. May your memories of her being you comfort.
