Martha McCormick Sensenich

Martha McCormick Sensenich, age 85, a resident of Olathe, Kansas, died on September 25 at Aberdeen Village.  Martha was the daughter of Isabel and James McCormick of Amarillo, Texas.  She was born November 13, 1933.  She was a graduate of Amarillo High School.  Martha began college in 1949 at Christian College in Columbia, Missouri and then transferred to the University of Missouri in 1950 where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.  While in college she met her future husband, Terry Carol Sensenich of Wheeling, Missouri.

She and Terry Sensenich were married on November 28, 1953.  They initially lived in Mississippi, before returning to Missouri in 1956 settling in Jamesport Missouri.  In 1967 she and Terry moved to Trenton when they purchased Grundy County Lumber, which they operated through the mid-1990s.  Martha primarily was a mother and homemaker, but occasionally would help with the books at the lumber yard.  Martha also served as an elder and deacon at Hodge Presbyterian Church and participated in search committees to find new ministers.  In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, bridge/cards, old movies, and being with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Martha is survived by her son Doug of Olathe, Kansas (married to Pat with children Megan, Keriann, and Brent as well as two great grandchildren Bronson and Roger); her daughter Elaine McGuire of Oklahoma City (married to Terry McGuire with children Aaron and Heather); her daughter Barbara Berg of Dallas (married to the late Bruce Berg with children Jeff, Christina, and Bethany); her son Duncan of Leawood (married to Andrea with children Katherine, Ben, and Abbey) and her sister Melody McCormick of Ann Arbor.  She was preceded in death by her husband Terry Sensenich, her parents James and Isabel McCormick, her brothers George McCormick and Don McCormick, and her sisters Lorna Novak and Joan Johnson.
