Alfred Lee Lowery was born October 5, 1933 in Eldon, MO to Charles & Audrey Lowery and was a 1952 graduate of School of the Osage. Lee was in the army for 2 years followed by 10 years in the reserves, where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. He went on to work & retire after 30 years from Reichhold Chemical Company where he was a supervisor. Lee was an active member of Countryside Christian Church where he was Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the Elders, elder, & Chairman of the Deacons. He also taught Alpha & Sunday school, & was a youth sponsor.
Lee loved to fish, hunt, square dance, bowl, golf, play cards, & is lovingly remembered (with a wink) for enjoying stimulating discussions where he could take the opposing viewpoint. He loved camping in their pop up camper, and loved vacationing with family & friends. There were many road trips to Colorado, Lake of the Ozarks, Jefferson City, & other locations through the years, & he recently took a special trip to Washington, D.C. to see his nephew retire from the Army.
He inspired many with his upbeat attitude in later years regarding his many surgeries & health challenges. He always lived in the present & was always looking forward. He will also be remembered for his love of a good ribbing - always enjoying laughing & joking with others.
Lee helped many family members & friends through the years with home projects & anything needed that he was able to do.
He began dialysis 3 years ago at Davita on Nall Avenue where he was surrounded 3 times a week by a very loving & caring staff & caring patients who made those visits very special to him. Learning about those special visits also brought much joy & peace to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred, sister-in-law Bonnie, & nephew Charles. He is survived by daughter Kathy Lowery (Michael Werner), brother Glenn Lowery, sister-in-law Betty Salts (Ron), 4 nephews – Gregory Lowery (Leslie Mucha), Mark Lowery (Angie), Alan Salts (Lorie), and Darin Salts (Peggy); 6 great nephews (Josh Lowery, Travis Lowery, Matt Lowery, Eric Lowery, Sam Salts & Nate Salts); and 4 great nieces (Katie Grimes, Paige Salts, Gracie Salts, and Abigail Salts).
Services will be Wednesday, January 15 at Countryside Christian Church, 6101 Nall Avenue, Mission, KS 66202. Visitation will be at 10:00 am, with the memorial service following at 11:00 am.

Kathy and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I never met Lee, but knowing what a special person Kathy is, I can only imagine how much of a hand he had in raising such a wonderful person. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. Doug & Christine Fielder and family

Kathy and family, my sincere sympathy to you. My late husband Jim and I had so many memories of good times with Lee and Millie and the rest of the Crusaders Class at Countryside until we moved away 10 years ago. Through all his health challenges even then he always seemed to bounce back to his smiling positive self. God bless you as you grieve. Barbara Peden
