David L. Reeve of Independence, Missouri passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the age of 81. David was born in Kansas City, Mo to David and Helen Reeve on July 15, 1939. Shortly after graduating from De La Salle Military Academy he joined the Navy. David enjoyed volunteering for the submarine school. He was sent to Key West, Fl as a member of the USS Quillback (SS424). He served aboard the 424 until his discharge in 1960 and left as a Second-Class Petty Officer Machinist Mate, MM2(SS). He also earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from UMKC. David was married to Patricia (Ridings) in 1964 with whom he raised two sons. He is survived by his wife Patricia; sons Stephen (Corrinna) of Independence, Mo; Mike (Cindy) of Lee’s Summit, Mo; 4 grandchildren, Brandan (Caitlin), Joey, Troy (Renae), Chloe and 3 great grandchildren, Landon, Ellie, and Henley.
Throughout his years, David enjoyed reading science fiction books, spending time with his family, riding his Honda Gold Wing, water sking and watching his children, and grandchildren play sports. David was a member of the Steel Workers Union and enjoyed being the editor of the local union newsletter. He also enjoyed being editor of the Gold Wing Chapter web site.
Close family, friendships, wonderful experiences, and great memories filled his heart. Your love and legacy will live on in all of us. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
