William Bryan Blackwell Jr. (Bill) was born in Kansas City, KS on November 7, 1935, to William and Helen Blackwell (Bradly). Bill passed away at home in Overland Park, KS on September 13, 2021.

He attended Wyandotte High School and pursued his college education at the    University of Kansas and Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Over the years he made his home in Texas and New Jersey and eventually returned to his local roots in Kansas City and Overland Park. Bill worked for Mobil Oil Credit Corporation from 1960 to 1991 eventually rising to the top department positions of Credit, Sales and Marketing Manager.

Bill is survived by his wife, Martha (Cott), Overland Park, KS; daughter, Kimberly Johnson (Travis) of Platte City, MO. Bill was proceeded in death by his son, Charles L Blackwell (Kathy) of Kansas City.

Family members include grandchildren and great grandchildren:

Alison Kellerstrass (Calvin), and Annette of Burlington, WA; Heidi White (Bryan) and Avelina and Scarlett of Rose Hill, KS; Timothy Grohusky and fiancé, (Tomoe Urano) of Everett, WA; Christopher Blackwell (Crystal) and Jacob and Colin of Kansas City, MO.

Bill’s sisters, Beverly and Nancy and brother, John proceeded him in death. He leaves many beloved relatives including nieces and nephews, in-laws, and many  cherished friends.

Bill was a man dedicated to his faith and family. He enjoyed travel, church activities, camping, and had a love for music. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed tennis, golf, and swimming. He enjoyed spending time with friends and co-workers from Mobil and attended many reunions. Bill loved his country and served in the Naval Reserves and as a Boy Scoutmaster in his earlier years.    

A celebration of life will be held later. Contributions can be made to Friends in Service of Heroes Inc.,  11472 S. Wilder Street, Olathe, KS 66061.
