Terry Ronald Day, Age: 80
May 10, 2022 - May 15, 2022

Terry Ronald Day passed away at home on May 15, 2022. Terry was the son of Charles and Carolyn Steffen.  He was born in Sterling Colorado on June 10, 1941. Charles died when Terry was a toddler and after some time Carolyn met and married Jack Day.  Terry was officially adopted by Jack and grew up in Shenandoah, Iowa. After high school, Terry went to Northwest Missouri State. He majored in business and became a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, eventually becoming president.  He has remained involved with and devoted to both Northwest Missouri State and Sigma Tau Gamma throughout the decades.

Terry met the love of his life, Sandra Lynn Robinson, while attending college in Maryville, Missouri. They became engaged and moved to Coral Gables, Florida. On February 6, 1966, they were married in Florida. They returned to Kansas City and Sandra finished college at UMKC.  It is back in Kansas City that Terry started working for Lee company which started a lifelong career in the clothing business.  They soon moved to Greensboro, North Carolina where Terry took a job with Blue Bell, the parent company of Wrangler.  He then became vice president of manufacturing for Big Smith Apparel. This involved working in New York City for two years and then working in Carthage, Missouri at Big Smith corporate headquarters.

With the assistance of the Smith family, Terry then started his own clothing company, Pride-Maker Apparel.  Shortly thereafter, Sandra was accepted into UMKC Law school and he moved his company to Kanas City. He continued to grow his company and enjoy being his own boss until he eventually sold his company in 2005.  He became a caregiver for Sandra after her retirement at the age of 65. She struggled with dementia and Terry supported her in every possible way until her death in 2020.

For the last nine months, Terry fought leukemia with the same intensity that he approached every challenge in life. As the disease progressed and he became weaker, his grandson Steffen became his caregiver and his best friend.  Terry left an indelible mark on his two sons through his example of husband and father. Terry is survived by his two sons, Brandon (Lenaira) Day, and Sean (Amanda) Day, along with seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and his brother Tom (Pam) Day.
