Stacey Renee Rodina, Age: 53
Feb 11, 1969 - Jun 24, 2022

Stacey Renee Rodina of Linn Valley, Kansas passed away on June 24th, 2022, at the age of 53. After battling colon cancer for nearly 3 years. Stacey passed surrounded by her family and is now full of peace and comfort. Stacey is survived by her husband Gregory Rodina, her two daughters, Callie and Hannah, her mother, Beverly Quinn, her brother and sister, Scott Quinn and Meredith Quinn, her sisters in law and their spouses, Chris and Harold Stice, and Rita Rodina and John Vanderslice, as well as a plethora of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father, James Quinn. Stacey was born in Independence, Missouri and grew up in Piper, Kansas. As a child, Stacey was an athletic, inquisitive, and determined young girl. She was highly competitive, participating in swim team, basketball, tennis, golf, volleyball, and dance team. Stacey was raised to be as independent as she could be, taking care of herself, her car, and her schooling, Stacey received a Bachelor of Science in Education and went back to receive her Masters. She did so with the help of her boyfriend turned Husband of 28 years, Greg. Greg and Stacey met in 1987 and married in 1994. They welcomed their first child, Callie, into the world in 1996, and Hannah came soon after in 2000. Stacey and Greg raised their girls in Olathe, Kansas, with the same emphasis on independence and lots of unconditional love. Stacey began her teaching career at Springhill High School but loved her time at Blue Valley West High School the most. She taught math, computer programming, and then became the Technical Integration Specialist for BVW. She was completely and totally dedicated to her work; she loved the people, and the chance to help them be successful was the cherry on top. When Stacey wasn’t knee deep in education, she participated in quite a few hobbies. Stacey loved to dance. She went to Zumba multiple times a week, and when the right music came on, no matter where she was, she busted a move. She also loved to golf. Thursday nights with her girlfriends on the golf course were a must, as well as golfing with her husband and lake friends in Linn Valley. Lastly, Stacey loved her lake toys. Stacey and Greg moved to the lake in 2018 with their beloved pup, Kioko. Stacey spent her whole life loving the lake, skiing, boating, swimming, and soaking up the sun were of her favorite activities. Above all, though, Stacey was the best mom, a super mom of sorts. Through all the hardship Stacey faced in the last years of her life, her girls continued to be her main focus. As determined, strong, and competitive as she was, it comes with no surprise that Stacey wished to not think of her situation as a battle lost, but if anything, a draw, because she took the cancer down with her. #RodinaStrong

I am so sorry for your loss and indeed the loss to us, her friends, students, colleagues and more. What a wonderful person she was. I will always remember her helping me at school and how positive she always was. Try to always remember the good times and know that she left a wonderful, positive light and life for us to appreciate.

Stacey was the most amazing person to work with at West! She was so willing to help, whether it was technology or a listening ear. She cared so deeply. She will be missed, but I know she is now healthy and strong, on the golf course with our dear friend, Dena Highberger.

Stacey was a most remarkable person. Her passion for technology and how it empowers learning was infectious. At Blue Valley West, she was in the office next to me, and our conversations about work, supporting colleagues, students, and our families were a mainstay of my time with her. I honestly don't log onto my Google Drive to this day without thinking of Stacey. She made me better. She led by giving of herself to the staff both professionally and personally. She loved Greg and their girls so much. It was obvious her love for them drove her. God bless her, and my sympathies to Greg, Callie, and Hannah.

Almost 10 years ago now, Stacey was my software development and game design teacher. Stacey played a big part in cultivating my interest in Software Development. I’m now a Software Engineer at Garmin working on a variety of consumer products from smart watches to off-road vehicle navigators. I give credit to Stacey for building a strong foundation for me to build upon and grow to where I am now. I’m very sad to hear of her passing and just wanted to reach out and express my appreciation for her.

I’m so going to miss my troubleshooting, problem solving, wise, and compassionate work buddy. I used to joke that we made a great team…I presented all the problems and she figured out all the solutions! We constantly emailed, called, and zoomed trying to solve the “big” problems of the day…those problems weren’t so big. I’ll miss her quick wit and ability to find the perfect hilarious meme, emoji, image, or animation for each situation. We told each other we would never want to do our job without the other. Still holds true. Stacey, my dear friend, this world is better because of you. All who knew you are blessed. I love you dear friend and will miss you. Greg, Callie, and Hannah words are so inadequate. Hugs and peace to you.

Greg, Callie, and Hanna. So sorry for your loss. It is hard to put into words what Stacey meant to me. She was one of the most caring and understanding and thoughtful people I have ever called friend. Above all she was so proud of you girls and so devoted to you Greg. When I told her I was taking my grand daughter to see Callie at the Coterie she beamed. She loved to tell of Hanna’s accomplishments especially in track. Her devotion to Greg was inspiring and her move to the lake brought so much joy. She will be fondly remembered and missed.

Jane Sak Jun 28, 2022

My condolences to the family and with deep sadness that I say good bye to a dear friend. I also worked with Stacey and she was always my coach, problem solver and cheerleader. She had a love of technology and showed it with such patience. She always talked and loved their house on the lake, those two girls--and you too Greg. She fought hard, may she now rest in peace.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I was fortunate to have had her as a teacher and a mentor at bvw in computer programming classes. She encouraged me and my friend Max to pursue creating our own independent study class furthering our knowledge in computer science and I am forever grateful for her enthusiasm support of our intellectual curiosity. Those classes were some of my favorite in highschool. Max went on to pursue a job in tech after her classes helped us discover the field. Throughout my educational and professional life the skills and knowledge I learned from her classes have been invaluable in my understanding of computers and programing and have had many implications in my studies and career. She will be greatly missed and her mentorship and support will always be remembered fondly.

As a newby TIS, she welcomed me in, shared everything, and taught me so much about helping people. Stacey was our leader and the best problem solver I know. All the high schools in the district have a little Stacey running through their veins…her impact on education and teacher support have reached well beyond the walls of BVW. I am so grateful for having known Stacey…a great teacher, a great mentor, a great helper, a great person. Thanks to Stacey for her positive impact on my life, Keil Pittman

Greg, Callie, and Hannah--You not only lost a bright star in your lives, but so did many, many more people, myself included. I have known Stacey for many years, as a friend, colleague, Zumba groupie, etc. We traveled to conferences together and spent a great deal of time trying to solve the problems of the world. :-). When I was a TIS at BVNW, she was at BVW, and she and I and Jane Sak spent lots of time trying to find creative ways to help others. She was fierce, driven, loyal, funny, generous, smart, and loving. Stacey was the "go to" for help on any issue, and she will be missed greatly by all of us. Please know that we all join in your sympathy in saying goodbye, for now, to such a great person. Heaven not only gained an angel but one who will keep their technology fresh and running smoothly. Love to you all.

Stacey was always smiling, laughing, dancing, joking…. She was infectious! A great friend to talk to. Gave the best advice and always had your back! We enjoyed many soccer games together watching our daughters play. I loved the way her family loved! She was a unique and special soul and will be greatly missed by many.
