Billy B. DeWald , Age: 56
Feb 15, 1966 - Jul 31, 2022

Billy B. DeWald, 56, of Rantoul, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 31, 2022.

He will be remembered for his quirky personality, dry wit, and his willingness to take on any task for friends and family alike. He will be sorely missed by his brother Brian (Royal) Dewald of Rantoul, sister Carol Dahn-Harper of Block, Ks., and his beloved nieces and nephews Farren (Matt), Joshua, Bethany, Sephereno (Lindsay), Phoenyx, Isaac, Brody, and Abi, cousins and extended family.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Connie Lee Dempsay and Billie Elbert DeWald.

Born in Garnett in 1966, Billy graduated Central Heights High School in Richmond, Kansas, in 1984. Upon graduation he served proudly in the Kansas National Guard as a Combat Signalman for the 1ST BN 127th FA, in Ottawa, Kansas. He was honorably discharged in 1990. His commitment to his community continued in his serving more than 5 years as a volunteer Fireman for the Cutler Township Fire Department. In addition to the Fire Department he volunteered countless hours through various churches with community outreach programs, missionary support efforts, or whatever was needed.

His commitment to family and to his faith were evident to all who knew Billy. He could be accurately described as humble, giving, caring, quiet, and selfless. He attended several local churches in the area, most recently finding a spiritual home at Cross Point Assembly of God in Paola. Billy’s faith and commitment to God were of paramount importance to him. Knowing this brings the family some solace during this time of grieving.

Although he was employed at a few different businesses in his earlier years Billy’s most notable employment was with Dodson International in Rantoul. He found many friendships and a sense of belonging at Dodson’s over the course of his time there. After near 20 years with them Billy took early retirement which allowed him to be the primary caretaker for his mother.

The family has no announcement for service at this time.

In lieu of flowers the family requests following Billy’s lead by sending donations to the Cross Point Church in his honor. Donations can be made online at cpchurch.tv/give or by mailing to Cross Point Church, Paola, Ks., 66071.
