Jean Kaye Stemmler , Age: 86

Surrounded by the love of her family, Jean Kaye Stemmler (nee Beatty), age 86, passed away August 6, 2022 in Olathe, KS. She was the first child of Mary Jane and Robert Millen Beatty, born on November 29, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN. Jean grew up in Arlington Heights, IL. She attended Arlington Heights High School and went to college at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. At Washington University, she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority and she met her future husband, Richard Fred (Dick) Stemmler.

 

Jean and Dick were married in St. Louis, Missouri on April 14, 1956. They quickly started their family and had three children, Lori, Tracy and Bob. Jean was a dedicated homemaker and the family resided in south St. Louis County. She was a devoted mother and wife caring for the needs of her family. She was active in the elementary school Parent Teacher Organization and her talents shined in the St. Louis Garden Club. Jean also volunteered at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and was active in PEO, the Philanthropic Education Organization, where she helped to raise funds for women’s scholarships.

 

Jean always enjoyed travel. Family vacations were memorable times and Jean enjoyed travel throughout her life. She had an outgoing personality and enjoyed many lifelong friendships with neighbors and in social groups. Jean and Dick enjoyed regular couples’ bridge club meetings and Jean played cards regularly with a women’s group.

 

In retirement, Jean and Dick enjoyed a second home on Long Lake near Traverse City, MI. There, they enjoyed outdoor activities, arts, and leisure activities with family and friends. Jean was widowed shortly after Dick’s retirement and lived a vibrant life as a widow for 24 years. She moved to the Kansas City area in 2019 and resided near her daughters and their families.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Stemmler, her mother Mary Beatty and her father Robert Beatty. Jean is survived by her children, Lori (Vince) Lange, Tracy (Toby) Boschert and Bob (Stephanie) Stemmler, grandchildren Kendall (Callan) Martin, Scott (Aram) Lange, Christian (Sara) Boschert, Dr. Kelsey (Steve) Harder, Andrew Stemmler and Madison Stemmler, as well as great granddaughters Willa and Dylan Martin, her sister JoAnn Sims and a loving extended family.

 

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at The River at Eureka United Methodist Church, 215 N. Central Avenue in Eureka, MO, on Friday, September 2nd beginning at 10:00 AM. A private family burial service will be held that same day at Sunset Memorial Park.
