Lisa Marie Tironi

May 14, 1957 - August 29, 2023

Lisa Marie Tironi was a remarkable human being who entered this life on May 14, 1957 in Detroit, MI surrounded by her overjoyed parents, Joseph Tironi and Mary Ann Kaminski Tironi.

Later, Lisa welcomed her sisters Paula Tironi and Angela Tironi Coughenour who were her best friends throughout her life.  The Tironis settled in Three Rivers, MI where the sisters grew up, and the family developed lifelong friendships in that community.

Lisa was a music educator extraordinaire who taught choral music at the middle school and high school levels in Michigan, Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri.  After 17 years of teaching the older kids, Lisa moved up to the elementary level and completed her career with 12 years of teaching children in Kansas at Sunset Ridge Elementary School.  Lisa immersed herself in consistent professional development and was very involved in daily application of the Orff process that she used to patiently guide her students to musical understanding and artistic self-expression.  A creative composer, she wrote original musical pieces and conceived and presented one-of-a-kind productions that were inspirational for her students and their audiences.  Lisa loved every day and every level of student she ever taught, and they loved her.  Lisa earned her undergraduate degree in Music Education from Michigan State University and the Master of Music Education degree from the University of Tulsa.

Beyond her professional life, Lisa loved to garden, travel, take classes in drawing and paper making, and study Italian.  Some of her favorite times were spent with longtime friends while traveling in Europe.  She spent significant time and energy documenting her family history and recently visited her relatives in Bergamo, Italy.

She left this life peacefully being comforted by her best friend and husband, Charles Robinson, and her loving son, Benjamin Robinson, on August 29, 2023 in Overland Park, KS.

I am so sorry to learn of Lisa’s passing. She helped reinvigorate my joy in teaching and I was blessed to have learned from her, however briefly.

I am so sorry to hear of Lisa's passing. She was such a joy and light! I distinctly remember her inviting me over to Sunset Ridge during my first year teaching in Blue Valley to share ideas to help me with my 6th graders, among other things. She was such an encouragement, and it was so wonderful to know that she was available as a resource even though she wasn't in my feeder system. In my nine years with BV, I always looked forward to interacting with her at professional development and learning from her wisdom. She will be missed, but her legacy will live on in her wonderful family and in the lives of all those touched and changed through her teaching.

Dear Chuck and Ben, there are no words. My heart is broken. I hold you all in my thoughts and wish for beautiful and happy memories. Lisa will continue to garden and make music through others. She has influenced so many. I will mostly miss "just chatting" with her. “The song is ended but the melody lingers on.” Irving Berlin

I'm very sorry to hear of the passing of Lisa. Try to take comfort in knowing she is in a better place now. the positive impact she had with her students and the love she shared with everyone will have a lasting impact. Psalm 84:5,6,7 Blessed is the man who's strength is in you, who's heart is set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the valley of Baca (weeping) they make it a spring; the rain also covers it in pools. They go from strength to strength; each one appears before God in Zion. Revelation 21:4 And God will wipe away every tear from there eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, not crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.

friend and Chuck’s former student ,Oxford ,Mississippi

Chuck & Ben, My heart is broken. I pray for peace and comfort for you. I love this quotation from Joe Biden, and I hope it will bring you comfort: “Someday the memory of your loved one will bring a smile to your lips before it brings a tear to your eye. My prayer is that day will come sooner than later, but rest assured, it will come.”

high school voice student from 1985-1988 ,Owasso ,Oklahoma

I knew Lisa back when she was "Mrs. Stainbrook." When anyone ever asks me who the most influential teacher in life was- I immediately come back with "Mrs. Stainbrook." She was my highschool choir teacher and she taught our small swing choir every genre music from Italian arias, to German ballads, to The Charleston, to Godspell. I also took private voice from her from age 14-18. Oh I loved her so. All through high school, she had words of wisdom for me at several important junctures in my life. She truly cared about me and she modeled virtue. A true role model. My sophomore year, there was some school unfair/bully board politics that tried to push her out of our school- and her students and the parents rallied around her at a late nigh school board meeting and one by one they testified as to what an amazing teacher she was, and how she should be able to keep her job as a the music teacher at Owasso High School. The students and parents won the case! She taught at OHS for several more years! She was so loved. Later when she moved to KC and remarried, I looked her up and we met at Crown Center for lunch. She was the same wonderful woman- always a smile and a spark in her eye. I found out about her passing today on accident. Some other former students and myself were reminiscing about her today and I googled her and stumbled onto this sad news. I am heartbroken to hear that she is gone so soon; but thankful that she was a part of my life.

To Lisa’s family.. Not a day goes by when I don’t think about LIsa and the impact she left on my heart Although I’ve not met Lisa in person, she was my Zoom buddy for close to 2 years whilst we studied Italian. Through those Italian lessons, her natural radiance and love for life (and Italy) seeped through . It was a privilege meeting her and knowing her…i just wanted her family to know that she left a bright spot on my heart. With much love, Carol
