March 23, 1934 - July 15, 2024
Virginia B. Hamble, 90 of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on July 15, 2024, at The Heritage of Overland Park. Virginia Helen Bohn, the daughter of Edward and Lillie (Kraus) Bohn, was born on March 23, 1934, in Eskridge, Kansas. Virginia (Ginny) married William R. Hamble on December 24, 1956, at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, Emporia, Kansas.
Ginny graduated from Eskridge High School in 1952, and graduated from Emporia State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education in 1956. She was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, Emporia State Alumni Association, and Phi Mu Alpha. Ginny sang in the Saint Gregory choir at her beloved Saint Michael’s for many years and along with husband, Bill, she completed the Education of Ministry program offered by The University of the South School of Theology in 2003. She had a 35-year teaching career ending with her retirement from Knox Preschool, Overland Park, Kansas in 2004.
Ginny and Bill loved to travel. They were avid fans of the Jayhawks, Chiefs and Royals. Ginny was a devoted Alpha Sigma Alpha alumnus. She played bridge with some of her ASA sisters for nearly 65 years which resulted in some very meaningful friendships. She and several of her friends from college kept a Round Robin letter going for nearly 65 years. During her lifetime, Ginny made it a point to always correspond via cards and “notes,” so her loved ones never forgot she was thinking about them. Bill and Ginny loved to entertain, and because of the importance they placed on “keeping in touch,” they maintained friendships that lasted a lifetime. Ginny loved her family and believed that the best way to a person’s heart was by feeding them a home-cooked meal which always ended with dessert made from scratch!
Ginny was married to her husband Bill for 59 years. She leaves daughters Sabrina Hamble-O’Brien and her wife Deb, Heidi Pulford and her husband David, grandchildren Trevor Mowry and Zoe Pulford, and many nieces and nephews of whom she was very proud.
Ginny’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on September 21, 2024, at 1pm at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 6630 Nall Avenue, Mission, Kansas.
The family wishes to thank the staff at The Heritage of Overland Park and Ascend Hospice. They request in lieu of flowers; donations be made to Saint Michael and All Angels Festival Music Fund (checks to be made out to Saint Michael and All Angels with Festival Music/Hamble in the memo and mailed to 6630 Nall Mission, KS 66202) or Ascend Hospice (checks to be made out to Ascend Hospice with Ginny Hamble in the memo and mailed to 4550 W 109th St Ste 210 Overland Park, KS 66211).

My thoughts are with Sabrina and Heidi and their families during this tough time. Aunt Ginny was full of life and always a smile on her face. I always remember staying at your home in KC and the fun we all had when I was little!! Ginny will be missed!! Brenda Cripps

Bill, I am sorry to learn of Ginny's death. I probably last saw all of you at something musical at SM West. It has been just short of a lifetime since we shared an apartment one semester and when we attended First Baptist, Emporia. I have wondered whether you still play organ as well as singing. I hope you and the rest of your family is doing well. Calvin McBride
