Justin Stewart Funk

December 27, 1975 – October 20, 2024

Justin Stewart Funk, a cherished husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on October 20, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones after a brave four-year battle with colon cancer. He was 48 years old.

Justin is survived by his loving wife, Michelle; his cherished children, Zach, Maddie (Jake), and Kenzie (Drew); his mother and stepfather, Barb and Bill; his brother, Chris (Traci); his in-laws, Barb and Bob; his brother in-law and sister in-law, Chris and Beth; his nephew, Andrew; and his nieces Kaylin, Savannah, and Emersyn. As well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger, as well as his grandparents and Aunt Elaine.

A proud graduate of Shawnee Mission North, class of 1994, Justin had a lifelong passion for sports, a love he instilled in his children. He could often be found watching games and reviewing highlights, sharing his enthusiasm for the joy and camaraderie that sports bring. Justin took immense pride in his children’s accomplishments, celebrating their graduations and successes in their careers with unwavering support.

He was a man of deep character, often putting others before himself, and rarely expressing his own struggles. His bravery in facing his illness and his consideration for those around him were a testament to his strength and kindness. While there is now a hole left in our hearts the size of Wrigley Field, the home of Justin’s forever favorite Chicago Cubs, we find peace in knowing that he is free from pain and has a new body to serve him.

A celebration of Justin's life will be held at Antioch Park Shelter 4, located at 6501 Antioch Road, North Entrance, Merriam, KS 66202, on Sunday October 27th, 11am-1pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to assist with medical bills and expenses during this difficult time. Contributions can be mailed to 6601 Larsen Lane, Shawnee, Kansas, c/o Michelle Funk.
