Karl Rodney Lindemann, 77, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at his home in Lee’s Summit after a 6 year courageous battle against cancer.
He was born November 23, 1946, in St Louis County, Missouri, son of Karl and Dorothy Lindemann. He graduated from Fulton High School in 1964 and attended Missouri State University where he met Becky Burdett. On April 19, 1969, in Sedalia, Missouri, he married Becky, who survives at the home.
Karl owned and operated Lindemann’s Office Warehouse and Lindemann’s Central Press until 2000. He served as the Pettis County Eastern Commissioner for 12 years until he retired in 2012. He was very involved in the community throughout his adult life, serving in leadership positions, including the Downtown Sedalia boards, the Smithton School Board for 9 years, as well as many organizations.
Karl and Becky traveled throughout the United States and several foreign countries, went on cruises, and visited all of the U.S. Presidential libraries. After retirement, they spent winters in Orange Beach, Alabama, until his health prevented him from traveling.
Karl enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his younger years he spent time camping, hunting and fishing with his childhood friends and later with his friends and family. He also made many trips to fish in Canada.
Karl also loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, family and friends. In 2016, he and Becky moved from the beautiful countryside of Smithton to a neighborhood in Lee’s Summit where they established a community of friends, including his Wednesday morning men’s coffee group.
Survivors include his wife Becky of the home, two sons-Josh Lindemann and wife Nicole, Lee’s Summit; Jon Lindemann, Springfield; a brother, Rick Lindemann and wife Karen, Kingdom City; and sister, Debbie Lindemann Moore and husband John, Auxvasse; two grandchildren-Addison Lindemann and Ansell Lindemann; a niece, Kristin Benne and husband Brad, Kingdom City; a nephew Kip Wolfmeier and wife Amanda, Sedgewickville; several great nephews, a great niece, many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Dorothy Lindemann; a brother, Ed Lindemann; infant grandson, Karl Michael Lindemann; and infant granddaughter, Rylee Jo Lindemann.
The family will have private graveside services at the Lindemann Cemetery on the farm where he was raised and his family still farms.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ravindra Chuda and staff at the KU Cancer Center in Lee’s Summit and the staff at Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care for their excellent care, professionalism and comforting compassion.

I am a more recent member of the Wednesday morning men's group, and got to meet Karl a few times. It was clear he was a true gentleman with a great sense of humor and appreciation for life. He will be missed.
