Sharon Lynn (Davis) Rider was born January 10, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri and passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024. 

 

Sharon lived her entire life in the Kansas City area where she graduated high school from Englewood Christian.  She continued her education and received a bachelors degree from Avila University and a masters degree from the University of Kansas.  Sharon worked in the healthcare field as a LCSW in both hospitals and private practice. 

 

Sharon loved Jesus and loved music. She was generous, fiercely independent, always up for a challenge, and passionate about helping others. Sharon demonstrated all of these traits in how she cared for her family, in her career as a social worker helping others, volunteering and serving meals to the homeless with her husband, Jim. She was exceptionally creative, excelling in everything from reupholstering, to stained glass work, to home transformations including gardening with elaborate koi ponds, to even creating fairy gardens for her granddaughter.  Sharon loved to travel. Whether horseback riding in Colorado near Aunt Vinita, touring family history in Germany, or cruising the Caribbean with Jim, she delighted in new adventures and visiting new places.

 

She was the beloved daughter of the late James (Jim) and Donnis (Padget) Davis, the cherished wife of James (Jim) Burchett, the faithful mother of Shane Rider (OK) and Justin (Amber) Rider (Liberty, MO), the devoted grandmother to Abigail and Jayden Rider, honored stepmother to Mallory (Kyle) Sanford and daughter Emery, and Marcus (Shannon) Burchett, the dear sister of James (Randy) and Shelly Davis, and treasured family member and friend to so many others. 

 

Celebration of Life service will be held at Christ Chapel, 15275 92 Hwy, Platte City, MO 64079, on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 at 10:00 am.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.
