Joseph Milton Kell III
May 2, 1949 – November 23, 2024

Joseph Milton Kell III, 75, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Joseph, known as Joe, will be remembered for his unconditional love, quick wit, warm smile, and unwavering loyalty. A man of peace and intentional relationships, he spent his time caring deeply for his family, traveling, and enjoying the simple joys of life—softball games, spirited rounds of spades, and cheering on Mizzou athletics.

Born on May 2, 1949, in East Prairie, MO, Joe was the son of Bonnie L. and Joseph M. Kell Jr. A proud alumnus of the University of Missouri-Columbia, Joe majored in political science and journalism, passions that fueled his curiosity and love of learning throughout his life. He built a successful career as a franchise manager in Columbia, MO then continued his career in management in Kansas City, MO.

On March 25, 1978, Joe married the love of his life, Donna L. Shelley, in Columbia, MO. Together, they created a family rooted in love, support, and joy. Joe’s greatest pride was his role as a devoted husband and father, always present at the events and milestones of his children.

Joe is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughters, Kelsey (Austin) Whitlow and Katherine (Jacob) Kimble; his six beloved grandchildren: William, Ainsley, and Frances Whitlow and Connor, Collins, and Reid Kimble; his siblings, Kevin (Vickie) Kell of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Susan Kell of St. Louis, MO.

Friend ,Colorado Springs ,Colorado

I'd known Joe ever since I started working at the Campus McDonald's in the fall of 1978. We became friends immediately and remained so for years. He was my regular partner at spades tournaments. The last time I saw him was in 2011 or 2012 when we attended a Royals game. I will always have good memories of him and the time I spent with his family.
