In Loving Memory of Lori Michelle Caruthers

Lori Michelle Caruthers, a woman of fierce independence, boundless loyalty, and vibrant spirit, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2026, at the age of seventy.

Born on October 3, 1956, Lori lived life entirely on her own terms. She possessed an unmistakable strength of character—bold, authentic, and unapologetically herself. Her warmth and resilience were felt by all who knew her, leaving an enduring imprint on the lives of her family and lifelong friends.

Lori found peace and joy by the ocean. Her love for the beach was a central part of her free spirit; she was happiest with the feel of the sand beneath her feet, the warmth of the sun on her face, and the soothing sound of the waves.

An avid and passionate sports enthusiast, Lori’s enthusiasm was legendary. Her heart belonged steadfastly to Kansas City and Missouri sports; autumns and springs were marked by cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas City Royals, and the Missouri Tigers. Yet, above any professional arena or stadium, her favorite games were always the ones played by her children and grandchildren. Lori was a fixture in the stands and on the sidelines, serving as their fiercest advocate, loudest cheerleader, and proudest supporter.

Lori held a lifelong love of dogs and cats, who were not merely pets, but cherished members of her family. Her feline and canine companions brought her immense comfort, laughter, and unconditional love, reflecting her own protective and generous heart.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Eleanor McCall Heath, her father, Gary Caruthers, her stepfather Ray Heath, her brother, Michael Heath, and her sister, Latricia Curtis.

Her legacy of courage, devotion, and spirited joy lives on through her family. Lori is survived by her two loving sons, Michael Howard and his wife Julie, and Jason Summers; her five cherished grandchildren, Megan Howard, Jacob Howard, Brandon Howard, Hazel Summers, and Marvin Summers; and her precious great-granddaughter, Melia Hernandez, all of whom carry forward her strength, laughter, and love of life.

She is also survived by her brothers, Raymond Heath and his wife Mary, and George Heath, as well as her sister Brenda Heath.

Her presence on the sidelines and in our lives will be deeply missed, but her fierce love will remain forever in our hearts.
