Arnold F. Ward
Mar 05, 1926 - May 14, 2018

Arnold F. Ward was born on March 5th, 1926 to Ruth L. Ward and Leo S. Ward in Salina, Kansas. He joined the military at the age of 18 and served 2 years from 1944 to 1946. Shortly after returning from his active service he married his sweetheart Donna Ward on November 9th, 1947. He was called back in 1950 to serve in the Korean war as a Sergeant 1st class until returning home in 1952. He loved working with his hands and was a talented woodworker. He enjoyed making toy cradles at Christmas time for children in need, while also making furniture and toys for each of his grandchildren.  If you asked him what his greatest achievement was, he would say the life he created with his wife and kids. Arnold and Donna were married for 70 years, and their love carried them through many ups and down. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and being outside. He had the biggest heart and really enjoyed volunteering his time with different charities in Kansas City.

I just want to let you know you meant the world to us.
Only a heart as dear as yours could give so unselfishly.

The many things you have done, all the times that you were there,
Helped us know deep down inside, how much you cared.

Even though we might not have said it, we appreciate everything you did.
Richly blessed is how we feel for having had a grandfather like you.

Donna, Karen and Linda, So sorry to hear about “Arnie”. So many great childhood memories with your family. We were appreciative when he gave dad’s eulogy at dad’s funeral in 1999. So long ago. I dream of a wonderful reunion with Arnold and all his friends and family. Who knows maybe the card games will begin again. He will be greeted by his old buddies I’m sure and the good lord himself. Condolences to you as you go through this difficult time.. Blessings to you all..🙏 Mary Youngstrom

I sure am going to miss Arnie - he was like a second father to me. I love you and your whole family. Rest in peace, my friend.

Old Family Friend ,Shawnee ,Kansas

Donna, Karen & Linda, I am so sorry to hear about Arnie's passing. Francie and I try to make a point to attend all the services for old family and Merriam Christian friends but we did not learn of Arnie until today. Throughout the years you all were a big part of the Bethel family and the church family. I know he'll be missed by all of you and many others and I pray all your wonderful memories will help lessen the sadness. God bless all of you. Kathi & George Wilson
