Nathan “Nate” Alexander Blevins

Nathan (Nate) Alexander Blevins, 39, of Kansas City, passed away on October 11, 2020, with family by his side. Born September 4, 1981, in Kansas City, to Cathy Uecker and Caesar Blevins. Nate is survived by two children, Remi (7) and Marley Mae (4), their mother, Dina (Wathan) Blevins; father, Caesar Blevins of Kansas City, MO; mother, Cathy (Bill) Uecker, of Grand Rapids, MI; and four siblings Jessica, Derick (Elise), Sam & Jack Uecker.

Nate attended Forest Hills Central High School in Grand Rapids, MI and graduated in the class of 2000. He was an outstanding athlete and fierce competitor playing three sports; basketball, football and track & field. Nate was an All-State wide receiver and a state champion high jumper, where he still holds the school record.
Nate continued his education at Hillsdale College where he played wide receiver on the football team. After college, he moved to Kansas City, married and had two children, Remi & Marley Mae.

Nate enjoyed all things Kansas City . . . the Royals, Chiefs, and BBQ to name a few. He was a loyal friend with a smile the size of Texas and a heart of gold. He never met a stranger and always made you feel welcome, whether he knew you for ten years or ten minutes. Nate had a photographic memory, he never forgot a name and knew the words to songs most of us could only hum to. You could always count on him to rap, sing, dance and crack a few jokes. He had a passion for cooking, and if you ever tasted his burnt ends, you knew BBQ was his specialty. He was the life of the party but what he treasured most were his two precious little girls. They were the center of his universe, the light in his eyes and the greatest legacy he leaves behind.

Nate will be missed dearly, and in his words, “Peace, homie.”

Cathy and Bill, my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. I had the privilege to meet your son, Nate at Sam’s grad party. The BBQ he prepared is still one of the best I’ve had. I want you to know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers as you process this huge loss. ❤️

My heart breaks for my friend Cathy. We have had so many talks about her Nate over 39 years. Was he ever the most inquisitive little boy who asked the question WHY about everything. He was the one that was jumping on our backyard in ground trampoline with my son Mark and ripppppppp Cathy and I turned to look and no one was there. They ripped thru the trampoline and fell to the ground. We all laughed our heads off once the shock wore off and we knew they were ok. Thank God Cathy and Caesar had Nate who would go on to marry his mate Dina. They would have the two loveliest daughters that will always beam their daddy’s smile for everyone to see and remember Nate by. This is a beautiful family who was blessed to have 39 years of Nate. The girls will remember him and that is such a bright spot to hold on to. Just wish we could have held on to Nate longer on earth. Nine

We are so sadden to hear about Nate’s passing. My son Phil, was a close friend of his in high school. They played football, ran track & loved playing basketball. He was always a sweet boy & so nice to have around. It was so sad to hear about his passing. So young & now he is gone. Even though, we haven’t seen you in quite awhile, you will be missed. Our thoughts & prayers are with your family as they go through this sad time. It’s so hard when you lose a child. It’s not suppose to be that way. God Bless his family & his 2 precious daughters. I’m sure he was a wonderful father. Love, the Abraham Family

Friend From High School ,Pasadena ,California

My brother Allan and I were so saddened to hear of the unexpected loss of our friend Nate. I was on the track and field team with Nate at FHC and I loved cheering him on when he was competing in high jump - he will probably always hold that high school record! I vividly remember how stunned he was each time he would jump higher and higher and just have a HUGE smile on his face - it's a memory i'll hold close. Nate, you had the best fun-guy attitude - thanks for all the smiles and a lot of laughs. Bless you and your family.

My condolences are with Nate’s whole family. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I have nothing but fond and fun memories of Nate from high school and can honestly say that he made those years better with him in it. My favorite memories all involve him and his huge, bright smile! He always made sure to tell me how much he loved my dad when he passed away and made sure to reiterate that on his death anniversary. It was so thoughtful and it is something I will always remember. Nate-you had such a HUGE heart-thank you for your kindness. Rest In Peace.

Cathy and Caesar, I was one of those people who only met Nate for about ten minutes out at the stadium. This was when your first granddaughter was a baby, and he was proudly showing her off! He did make an impression, even in a short time-you're right. I know how much you both loved him. I guess the best you can do is dwell on your gladness that you had him. You are all in my prayers, and in my heart. I am so dreadfully sorry! Much love, Sara Smith

Cathy and Bill, We are so saddened about Nate. I had the priviledge of meeting him in person and it's true..he does have a smile the size of Texas! Also true that it was instant "like" when I met him. I also heard him on the phone many times with his Mom and often with his girls in the background. The love was so real. I will pray for your strength during this time...Everyone that knows you... loves you... and may all the friendships and prayers and healing thoughts help you all through this time.

There’s a lot of adjectives to describe Nate, but the one that always jumps out to me is Loyal. Loyal to his girls, his family, his friends, his sports teams, his BBQ, his music; to anything he cared about. Nate & Dina got me through some of the toughest times of my life, and in turn showed me some of the best times in my life. I’ll always remember him as a smiling, giving, fun, loyal friend who would do anything for you. I can’t wait to watch his legacy continue through his two beautiful & attitude filled girls. He couldn’t be reincarnated better. Love and miss you brother.
